Orac³ by Peter Dickison
Bit-tech five-part article series Here
For many people who have followed modding for the last decade, one mod captures the essence of customisation, outlandishness and the simple 'I did it because I could' attitude. Orac³ is one of the first projects to attract people from far and wide to bit-tech
and set the scene for modding to go further than just improving cooling or adding lights.
The use of chrome shower-tail tubing to cover cables really makes the project what it is. We'd seen plenty of acrylic cases that used water cooling before Orac³, but the project makes the most of the fact the case is translucent. The mix of colours also hides the fact the innards are pretty crowded - we wouldn't have it any other way.
Acrylic towers have become less popular, but Orac³ was way ahead of its time both in terms of design and its ability to encompass every feature of the case into one simple theme. Be sure to check out our five-part feature on the project including plenty more eye candy.
