ASUS Debuts Next Generation Computing with the AMD Brazos Platform
Low power consumption, high graphics performance designed motherboard perfect for home entertainment

March 2, 2011 — ASUS has begun shipping the new ASUS E35M1 motherboard series, their first series based on the revolutionary AMD Brazos platform. The new platform features the Zacate Accelerated Processing Unit, better known as an APU, which integrates a CPU and GPU on the same die, improving data transfer rates between these components while also reducing power consumption. The ideal platform for a Home Theater PC (HTPC) also has upgraded graphics performance, compatible with the latest in graphics with DirectX® 11 support integrated in to the chip for superior visuals.

Good things come in small packages
The E35M1 Series motherboards are designed to be ultra-efficient, both for energy and space savings. Together with the low power draw of the Zacate APU, E35M1 Series motherboard systems consume a mere 36 watts TDP, all on a fanless design –perfect for a multitude of scenarios.

The E35M1 Series comes in a Mini ITX version, and combined with the low power draw of the APU makes it ideal for use in a HTPC setup, due to its discrete presence in the home and inexpensive continuous operating cost. It also comes in two Micro ATX versions, providing more flexibility for power users who are looking for a balance between a discrete form factor with power and expandability and a low energy cost.

Graphics to behold
With the minimal amount of energy used by the APU and motherboard, most would expect system performance to suffer. However, the efficient design of the E35M1 motherboard series along with the APU supporting DirectX® 11 results in 113% better performance with over DirectX®10. Add in UVD3 video decoding makes enjoying multimedia on the E35M1 motherboard series hassle-free and easy.

DirectX®11 with Fast Tessellation renders virtual environments and terrain in vivid and ultra-realistic detail thanks to the dedicated GPU features built-in to the APU. Smooth HD video playback and outstanding graphics performance make the E35M1 ideal for casual gaming. With the capability to add on an extra graphics card, the E35M1 Series provides increased flexibility for users.
