Berlin, 17 May 2010 – Good looks and clever functionality do not have to be mutually exclusive. AOC launches a new 16:9 Full HD display with a screen size of 54.7cm/21.5” aimed at notebook users in particular. This innovative solution with WLED backlight allows the notebook to be placed between the flatscreen’s two feet saving valuable desk space.

The notebook owners’ monitor
AOC sets off the current trend towards ever smaller portable computers with its new e2239Fwt. Increased mobility often comes with concessions towards keyboard and screen size. Display and keyboard have to be downsized to allow the notebook/netbook to be used comfortably when on the go. Yet at home or at the office most users prefer a big screen. The e2239Fwt is the solution for all owners of mobile computers who do not want to do without the advantages of a large display when at the desk.

Connecting an external display with a mobile computer is easily done. However, most monitor stands are located at the centre of the bezel, which means that an opened notebook can only be positioned at an angle. The resulting slanted visual angle is everything but ergonomic for longer periods of use and quickly leads to fatigue as well as neck strain. AOC banks on an entirely different concept: because of the two feet found on either side of the monitor, the notebook can be neatly placed underneath the display.

The 21.5” display comes with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and WLED backlight technology, rendering not only brilliant colours but saturated blacks. Crisp images under almost any light condition are ensured by the dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1 and a brightness value of a maximum of 250cd/m², making this attractive multi-functional display in 16:9 format perfectly suited for office as well as multimedia applications.

Ease of use
The easily operated multitouch screen function (supported by Microsoft Windows 7 Multitouch) opens up multiple ways of interacting with the computer: working more efficiently, browsing through photo albums, surfing on the Internet, playing games, enjoying music collections or action-packed blockbusters – it’s all possible through a light tap or move of the finger(s) on the screen.

All adjustments to the display parameters can be carried out via the touch-sensitive touch buttons tastefully integrated into the bezel.

Connectivity
This versatile model features an analogue D-Sub and two HDMI connectors (HDCP compatible). USB sticks, hard disks or digital cameras can be easily hooked up via one of the three integrated USB 2.0 ports. In addition, the monitor is kitted-out with two integrated loudspeakers and an audio output.

Environmentally friendly
Environmental protection and “Green IT” are of top priority at AOC. Therefore the e2239Fwt consumes less than 25 watts when in use and under one watt in stand-by mode.

The e2239Fwt will be available from June; the retail price has not been set so far.
