London, 21st October 2010 – As thin and light as ever, yet the new Aspire One D255 gives you twice the power compared to its predecessors thanks to the Intel Atom dual core processor for netbooks. But that’s not all. The Aspire One D255 also packs excellent usability together with eight hours battery life, for the ultimate mobile experience.
With the Aspire One D255 you can multitask, explore the Internet, keep in touch with friends and have fun without worrying if you have enough power for the task at hand or about battery life. Even if you thought it impossible, your life on the go can even get better!
In line with its efforts to continually improve users' mobile experience, Acer equipped the Aspire One D255 with either the dual-core Intel® Atom™ processor N550, that ensures a more responsive mobile Internet experience and supports DDR3 memory while offering a great battery life or the Intel® Atom™ processor N450 with DDR2 memory support. The Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, supporting Microsoft® DirectX® 9, guarantees a superb graphic performance. In its usual compact size, the Aspire One houses a large internal hard disk with up to 250 GB of capacity and a built-in multi-in-one card reader, so that you can get as creative as you like and still can easily store or share your multimedia files.
Designed to keep you in touch with your world at all times, the Aspire One D255 comes with several connectivity options. You can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ technologies, Fast Ethernet or optional 3G. You can also take advantage of high-speed sharing of media files or documents using Bluetooth® 3.0+HS (optional). To chat live with your friends, capture photos or videos or videoconference with your business contacts you can use the Acer Crystal Eye webcam.
You can choose from four colours to match your style and personality: Diamond Black, Ruby Red, Sandstone Brown, and Seashell White. The first thing you notice is the gorgeous cover proudly showing off the chrome-plated Aspire One logo. The palm rest has the same colour and finish as the front cover for a terribly stylish look inside and out. The back cover, as good looking as the front one, and the transparent power button, portraying a floating effect, gives a sparkle of glamour.
With a single charge you get up to 8 hours of cable free power so you can email, chat, blog or surf as much as you want and get the most while you are on the go. As a real globetrotter, the Aspire One D255 comes with the innovative Acer MiniGo adapter that has a wall mount design, is 34% lighter than typical adapters, and saves 1/3 charging time. What’s more, it supports optional interchangeable AC converters, so you can always have the right plug.
Ultra-thin (only 24 mm) and ultra-light – 1.25 kg for models with 6-cell battery pack–, the Aspire One D255 is an unobtrusive travel companion, yet it features a 28 cm (10.1”) Acer CrystalBrite™ WSVGA display with a 1024x600 pixel resolution and a 16:9 format, perfect for web browsing and chatting or video streaming. In addition, the LED backlit display ensures a better performance and 22.2% power savings compared with traditional displays.
The highly responsive 93% standard-size keyboard, with larger keys for more comfortable typing is complemented by the wider multi-gesture touchpad, perfect for scrolling documents, rotating images, zooming and browsing, all with fingertip convenience.
Smart power technologies combine with environmentally friendly manufacturing to create a device that is green inside and out. Rohs and WEEE observance means the production took care of restricting the use of hazardous substances; while single charge all-day power, Acer MiniGo adapter, LED backlit display and low power processor ensure compliance with Energy Star® requirements. What's more, minimized material consumption, modular construction and reduced packaging material guarantee efficient recyclability.
The Aspire One D255 (N450) is available now with an RRP of £229.99 Inc Vat (3 cell battery) and £249.99 Inc Vat (6 cell battery).
