For those looking for a mid-range Pentium solution, Abit have introduced the Abit AL8 today.

Sporting the 945P chipset for dual core Pentiums, it also includes Abit's overclocking technology, including the uGuru and compatibility with the uGuru clock, as well as OC Guru and high-definition Azalia audio.

The AL8 is designed for mid-range applications, but with enough performance to satisfy this market comfortably - Abit claim 'it is definitely no slouch.' It also packs in Gigabit LAN and Intel MAtrix RAID.

The board will be on shelves before the month is out, and will cost £108 / $150-ish. Here's the clipping:

"Today, ABIT is proud to launch its latest motherboard - the AL8. Like its predecessor the AG8, the AL8 offers a compelling platform for those that are looking for the price/performance sweet spot. Using the latest Intel chipset, the AL8 delivers best-in-class performance and rock solid stability, making it an ideal Pentium 4 platform at a great price.

Based on the Intel 945P chipset and bursting with exclusive ABIT Engineered features, the AL8 Series is a cost effective solution that offers support for the latest Intel Pentium 4 processors, Dual DDR2 memory, 7.1 channel HD audio, and PCI Express graphics."
