Apple has shipped a number of iPods with the RavMone.exe virus sitting on the player's hard drive!

Whilst Apple has so far only seen 25 complaints, it claims, there could be as many as 1% of all video iPods sold since the middle of September affected.

The virus only affects Windows users, so those happily bashing away on OSX needn't worry, and Apple was sure to get in a dig at Windows even as it owned up to its own faux pas:

"As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it."

Hardly sporting, eh? One could even suspect Windows sabotage.

The Apple page detailing its muck-up and some suggested solutions is here. Let us know if you've been affected (infected?) by the problem over in the forums.
