At E3 2011 Microsoft and Crytek have announced the first details of a new Kinect title previously known as Codename: Kingdoms, now dubbed Ryse.

Ryse was first announced at E3 last year, under the working title Codename: Kingdoms, but details were few.

Now we know that Crytek plans for Ryse to be a first-person fantasy action game set in Ancient Rome, where players partake in one-on-one melee battles.

A brief clip was shown at Microsoft's E3 2011 press conference, with players swinging one hand to control their sword and the other to wield their shield. Headbutts, kicks and throwing weapons were also shown as part of the gameplay.

No further details have been announced regarding release date, nor what engine Crytek is planning to use.

Crytek is also working on a new multiplayer shooter at the moment, dubbed Warface, but no details on that have yet been announced.
