Wargaming’s massively successful tank-based MMO, World of Tanks, is getting ready for a significant update to its Xbox 360 edition.

The free Soviet Steel update will be the largest single update for the game and is due for deployment on June 3. The pack will boost the game’s roster of tanks with 29 USSR vehicles, bringing the total number available in the title to over 150.

The update also brings two new battlegrounds to the game, Komarin and Ensk.

In addition to this update, Wargaming is also getting ready to launch the ‘Combat Ready Starter Pack’ retail edition of the Xbox 360 version. The £15.99 package will include access to a premium tank, three days of premium account time, 200,000 in-game silver and 1,500 in-game gold. It will also include a voucher for 30 days of Xbox Live Gold status.

The Xbox Live version of World of Tanks was released earlier this year in February. Wargaming has previously said that if the Xbox 360 version of the game gains significant traction with a ‘meaningful user base’ then the studio will begin work on a version for the Xbox One as well.

The PC version of World of Tanks was first released in Russia in 2010, making its way over to Europe and North America in 2011. Figures released by Wargaming last year show that the game has clocked up 60 million registered users.

Wargaming is currently working on World of Warships which is currently going through alpha testing and has no definite launch date. The company also launched World of Warplanes in November 2013.
