A TV series inspired by stories from the EVE Online player-base is in development.

Players can submit their stories to EVE developer's CCP 'True Stories' website and these will fuel the show. It will be directed by Baltasar Kormákur whose more recent films include Contraband and The Deep.

'The EVE universe is full of astounding stories of epic battles, daring heists, and gripping political intrigue, all of which will make for an amazing television series,' said Kormákur. 'The opportunity to interact with the fans of the EVE Universe directly opens up all sorts of exciting possibilities.'

EVE Online's trans-media efforts will extend further still as the stories submitted will also drive a comic published by Dark Horse. The title, EVE: True Stories, will be released this winter in hardback form and also be available as a free download on Dark Horse's website and mobile apps.

'The inhabitants of the notorious and beloved EVE Universe have ten years’ worth of dramatic stories to tell,' added CCP chief executive Hilmar Veigar Pétursson. 'Our close collaboration with Baltasar and his creative team gives me confidence that we will capture EVE’s essence, inspiring millions of TV viewers with visions of humanity’s future.'

Kormákur's creative team intends to create an original storyline set in the EVE universe so it is unlikely that the stories submitted will be utterly unedited and we can probably expect names like the Goonswarm and Honeybadger alliances to be altered, although there will be many who would like to see some of the player-generated madness that exists in the universe make it into the project unaltered.

EVE Online will have been running for 10 years this May and is gearing up for its 19th free expansion, Odyssey, which is deployed on June 4. The MMO currently has a subscriber base of approximately 500,000.
