Summary by Azariel

Project PiQu started from the desire to create a cheap and unobtrusive little media center. This meant looking for materials that fit better in a living room environment than the usual shiny plexi. As it would almost have to become a piece of the furniture I decided to treat it as such and use a soft fabric and filling material to make a cushiony exterior.

As part of the unobtrusiveness I wanted to hide as many of the connectors as possible, but still be able to fit a WiFi dongle and a USB hub in it (for added ports). To solve this issue I split each side of the cube into 3 separate sections and attached magnets to the cube so they would snap right into place. As the magnets are placed all around the perimeter, every cushion-segment can be placed both horizontal and vertical allowing a lot of different options to open up or hide certain connectors when needed.

The end result: a small cushiony cube, simple and unobtrusive from the outside, but highly flexible from the inside!
