Mod of the Year 2012

It's time for the best modding projects of 2012 to go head to head in bit-tech's annual spectacular Mod of the Year Competition. Our modding community has been hard at work this year producing some simply spectacular mods and scratchbuilds of all shapes and sizes. It's without doubt the best year for modding that we've seen for a while and boy have we got some projects for you this time.

We need you to vote for your favourite projects as the winners will be bagging a super set of prizes as well as gaining eternal glory as the world's best modders, with the 2012 Mod of the Year Crown up for grabs. The last three years have seen Attila hold the crown twice, but it was L3p with his fantastically popular desk PC that won in 2011.

This year Attila is back with his first water-cooled project, and not only is L3p here too, but we've got some seriously awesome newcomers and old hands all vying for your votes with some truly amazing projects.

There were so many amazing projects this year that we asked several prominent members of the community to help us. Instead of bit-tech choosing the nominated projects, a number of our most popular modders have nominated dozens of their favourites. The final 20 here today are the projects with the most votes, plus one or two late finishers that we thought deserving of a place. Amazingly there were nearly 100 nominations in total. This sadly means that lots of great projects didn't make their way to the final but we're sure you'll agree that this is the fairest way of doing things.

Votes have changed this year too. We've discussed the matter with our key modders and came to a compromise. This year you'll be able to vote for up to five projects, but there's no minimum number - if you just like one project, that's all you need to vote for. We're sure some of you will think differently, but this has been put to the vote and we've taken all the opinions we received in to account.

However, first, second and third place will be influenced by our panel of judges who will select their favourites from the top five reader-voted projects.

To vote for your favourite projects, head over to our online poll here. You can vote for up to five projects. Voting ends on Sunday 6th January 2013

So, without further ado, here are this year's 20 projects - click on the images to go to the right page. You can vote for your favourites HERE - you have up to five votes so make them count. Don't forget to check out the amazing prizes on offer from this year's sponsors - if you vote you'll be in with a chance of winning a reader prize too!
