Worklog: Here

It's been a while since we've seen some game orientated mods in MOTM, but woody_294 is at hand with a modified Advent case with a popular theme for his proposed design. There aren't many games where orange is a must have colour in a tribute mod. Can you tell what it is yet?

In case you've been asleep for the last 10 years or don't have a Steam account, woody_294 was impressed by the artwork surrounding Valve's massively popular Orange Box collection which includes games from the Half-Life series, Portal and the like. In fact there are some very familiar patterns on show but one thing's for sure, Valve related mods rarely get old.

Some of the early Sketchup renders in woody_294's project log look awesome and we're already looking forward to seeing the finished article! The balance of orange, black and white look pretty spot on for a classic Valve mod if woody can pull it off. Work has already begun with a the side panel going under the knife to make way for a side window.

In addition to the window woody_294 added a TF2 symbol shaped symbol to the panel as well as a neat circular fan blow hole in the opposite corner. We can also see an expansion slot cover hiding any cable ridden graphics cards and SATA cables. Also in view is a custom hard drive mount with see through windows that should look great when the case is done.

Here's that expansion slot cover after a little more modding. It reminded us a little of FrooP's Q-vent 900 and it's a feature that never fails to impress in all its variations and woody_294's has the unique addition of a fan blow hole. To the right we can see the case really coming along.

No sooner were things coming together, woody_294 then pulled it all apart! However there was a good reason for this and that is λ-Zephyr was to receive a few coats of paint. This really has transformed the case and it's now looking much more like woody_294's original Sketchup render. Together with the black externals you'd never have guessed this was once a boring run of the mill PC case. There's plenty going on in woody_294's project log so make sure you check it out for the latest updates on λ-Zephyr .

If you think λ-Zephyr is as awesome as a gravity gun, head over to our forums and vote for it.
