SilverStone TJ11 Preview: But, at what cost?

The hard drive cages are each individually removable to make way for watercooling radiators, but that's at your own modding whim: SilverStone just makes the space available. These drive racks can then be relocated to the 5.25in bays with just a couple of screws. This one is just a mock-up that's why some of the trays are lop-sided. SilverStone hasn't finalised the screw holes for the 5.25in relocation too yet, so we couldn't check how it worked exactly.

Finally, another interesting thing to note is that SilverStone will NOT ship this case with its name on! It'll ship entirely unbranded with a separate, metallic, sticky badge in the box. This one has the logo on as it's SilverStone's showpiece, so just imagine it without. SilverStone's reason for doing this is the fact most of these cases will go to premium PC OEMs who prefer to put their own brand name on the front.

And yes, it'll likely be limited to premium PC OEMs as well because it is expected to retail 'somewhere just below [SilverStone's] most expensive case ever sold ($699)'. How much is 'just'? We weren't told.

The 2mm thick aluminium doesn't flex and is anodised black

So, considerably more expensive than the TJ07, although it is of course a fair bit larger as its able to house 140mm-fan radiators and has more drive bays.

Throw in the fact that aluminium is becoming an ever more luxury material every day, and that the design of the TJ11 is more complex than the TJ07, we can appreciate why it costs more. However, we can't help but feel that most of those waiting for an equally fantastic replacement will be hurt by the impending high price.

SilverStone related it the premium pricing of the Thermaltake Level 11, and yes, this will be its own flagship model to compete against it, but we wonder whether SilverStone will ever give the rest of us a TJ07-2?
