Demo’d today at the VIA GMB Tech Forum Autumn, the 10”-12” VIA Surfboard NetNote Edition Platform-based designs offer users a multimedia-focused mobile experience

Taipei, Taiwan, 25 September 2009 - VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, today announced partner design wins based on the new VIA Surfboard NetNote Edition Platforms. The NetNote systems were showcased earlier today at the VIA Global Mobility Bazaar (GMB) Tech Forum Autumn, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Shenzhen, China.

Along with high bit-rate 1080p HD video playback capability, many of the NetNote systems also offer additional value with external MP3 control decks that can be operated without having to boot the OS, digital TV modules that receive CMMB standard digital video broadcasts from both satellite and terrestrial transmitters, and FM transmitter functionality that allows users to tune in car radios or cell phones to pick up broadcasts from NetNote devices.

“There is still room for mobile products that find the right blend of portability and performance in a form-factor that respects today’s internet savvy consumers,” said Tim Bajarin, Principal Strategist, Creative Strategies Inc. “Usable keyboards, higher screen resolutions and high definition media playback all touch on key user demands.”

“As the mobile device market matures we see NetNotes, with their perfect blend of performance and portability, emerging as the ideal form factor,” said Richard Brown, Vice President of Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. “Improved HD multimedia performance and media options further increase the NetNote’s value and appeal.”
