Crucial has officially released its latest M500 SSDs that feature Micron's latest 20nm NAND and a new Marvell 88SS9187-BLD2 controller.

Available in capacities of 120GB, 240GB, 480GB and 960GB the new drives are all readily available in stores with UK MSRPs of £103.99, £173.99, £315.99, and £476.99, respectively. This makes them not the the cheapest drives available but certainly more than competitive.

The 2.5inch form factor of the drives is 7mm tall so should potentially be compatible with more laptops than taller 9.5mm models. Crucial includes a 9.5mm adapter, though, so if you need the large size, these drives will still have you covered. For those with even smaller devices requiring a storage upgrade, the drives will also be available in mSATA and M2 form factors.

All drives feature a three-year warranty and include 256-bit AES encryption and custom firmware that meets TCG Opal 2.0 and IEEE-1667 standards. Hold Up capacitors also ensure the drive won't lose data in the case of a power outage.
