Google overhauls image search

Google's image search has been radically overhauled to not only show more, but also bring up funky lightbox overlays when a mouse is hung over.

Most of the textual information and white gaps have been removed in favour of packing more in per page - except there's no longer any pages. Scrolling down will just load more images.

Firefox users may want to beware though - after scrolling to "page 20" Firefox 3.6.7 we found that a Google image search was using over 650MB of memory, or "just" 300MB with it open in the background.

Down the left hand side there are more refined options to select: Google can pick out specific colours, image sizes or even know if there are faces in the pics as well.
