Many users across the globe were stuck looking for an alternative VOIP network last week when Skype had major connection problems. Many, it seems, found their grace through rival service JAJAH.

JAJAH announced through a press release that it had seen a registration surge of more then 50 percent since last Friday. With a free trial and no headset, contract, or download required to use the service, its no wonder many Skype users decided to test out the competition.

"As soon as Skype went down, we started to see our numbers climb," said Roman Scharf, JAJAH co-founder. "Thousands of users searched for alternative ways to contact friends and family and JAJAH was ready to serve up endless free and low cost calls."

JAJAH uses a combination of internet and telephony technology in order to allow a user to complete calls to another person. All you have to do is punch in your phone number and the number of the person you wish to call and click the big, green CALL button. The service will then connect both of your phone lines allowing you to make global calls a lot cheaper then if you dialled the number in a normal phone.

It's really that simple.

For the UK users out there, the upcoming summer bank holiday will give you a chance to make a 10 minute call back home for free when it'd normally cost you at least £3.90.

So by a show of hands, how many of you out there have tried out JAJAH and liked it? Are there any other services you recommend to people instead of Skype or JAJAH? Let us know over in the forums.
