Thats one fully featured motherboard, cant wait to see the reviews.
One thing though is the retension mechanism for the NB, ahhhhh clips! My DD chipset block ripped those off of two P4 478 motherboards. Had to use loctite heatsink glue in the end.
Maybe there is enough space to a nice little hole to mount something a little more
Clips are indeed the spawn of Satan, but I'd be careful about drilling holes tbh, they're not there for a reason... Don't forget mobo's are a multi-layered PCB, and could easily hide a couple of traces in there, and it's even more likely at a NB/SB...

Good point Krikkit...that could have been expensive :|
It was a good idea, but I wouldn't bother if I were you - of all the people to know that clip-on's suck, and holes rock, it's DFI (imho), so there really must be a reason for no holes...

DFI have admitted themselves that MOST of their RD600 RMAs were from users not replacing the NB heatsink properly: taking one side off before the other and cracking the core.

ReplyHence, you are going to have a whole load of n00bs mucking up, and hence a whole load of RMA woe's.

I have to agree that clips are the spawn of Satan though.

i'm getting an rd600 myself shortly though rather than a 680i, looks like r600 in crossfire and intel quadcore will be the way to go....
