Eh? :? "Closing" means that the deal is complete.

They have - this is essentially announcing that the two have finished the paperwork required. :)

It could be interesting to see how this works out long term, It seems to me Google was doing really well sticking to what they do best, or, at least what they know best.

They probably will be sticking to what they know best, they'll just be making massive money out of YouTube sometime soon, otherwise they'd never have bought it.

OK, I'm sure they will be looking at the vast advertising potential of You Tube. Trouble is the whole video sharing thing is a copyright minefield at the moment and google, I think, is hoping a lot of this can be smoothed out. Time will tell if it was a good move or not. But 1.6 billion dollars can buy a lot of advertising without buying You Tube (thats what google is supposed to have paid).
