Aerocool has announced a new mid-tower entry in its Deep Silence family, the DS 200, which launches this week in various colours and with a lower-cost Lite Edition variant.

The follow-up to 2013's micro-ATX Dead Silence Cube, the DS 200 family is designed for those who need a little more room for all their components. Based on 0.8mm SECC steel, the DS 200 is a full-size ATX chasssis which supports up to five 3.5" or seven 2.5" storage drives alongside two externally-accessible half-height 5.25" drives. Seven expansion slot spaces are available, while the front panel boasts two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and HD Audio connectivity.

That same front panel hosts the DS 200's real stand-out feature: a built-in fan controller with LCD display. Supporting a total of 25W across its three channels, the controller supports four speed settings - off, low, medium and high - per channel and displays both fan speed and current internal case temperature. The display can also be back-lit in one of seven colours. The DS 200 also includes insulation mats and rubber drive mounts to reduce the noise, and a soft-touch 'leather' finish to the exterior panels. As with the smaller DS Cube, two top panels are provided: one with an emphasis on silence, and one with a focus on airflow.

Each model in the range supports graphics cards up to 290mm in length, or 410mm when the three-drive 3.5/2.5" drive bay is removed. CPU coolers of up to 170mm are supported, with the case featuring overall dimensions of 210mm x 527mm x 485mm. The case design includes room for 240mm or 280mm water-cooling radiators on both the top panel and front, and comes bundled with a 140mm front intake fan and 120mm rear outtake fan.

Interestingly, in addition to Black, Red, Orange, Black/White, Blue and Green variants with and without windowed side panels, Aerocool has also announced a DS 200 Lite Edition. This version drops the leather-effect finish, noise-absorbing mats, 3.5" drive bay and auto-eject stealth front panel features of its more expensive equivalents although retains the bundled fans and fan controller.

The DS 200 is available for pre-order now at retailers throughout the UK, priced at around £76. UK pricing for the DS 200 Lite Edition has yet to be confirmed. Full details are available on the official website.
