Not long ago it was rumoured that there would be several changes coming to the Medic class in Team Fortress 2, the most controversial of which was drastic changes to the Medic's healing ability.

The change in question, an unlockable called 'Overhealer', would have let Medics double the maximum health of their allies instead of being able to give them invincibility-empowering Ubercharges. Now though, according to a post on the Steam forums, the planned unlockables have been scrapped.

Speaking on the forums, Valve overlord Robin Walker said;

"[There are] no details on the Pyro’s unlockable weapons yet, sorry. We’re still focusing on the Medic, and the underlying system. Your fire axe will be happy to hear that the Overhealer didn’t work out as well as we wanted it to, and won’t be making an appearance."

So, good news then for all you skeptics. Personally we weren't too keen on the idea of double-healthed Heavies rushing our Sniper spots either, and it goes to show that the Valve's commitment to playtesting has once again saved a good game from being broken.
