The new Tomb Raider
game announced by Crystal Dynamics yesterday will not have a retail release model at all, Eidos has revealed. Instead, the game will only be available digitally through systems such as Steam and PSN - though no platforms have yet been confirmed.
The latest Tomb Raider
won't even be a Tomb Raider
game though, technically. Developer Crystal Dynamics, who took over from UK-based Core Design a few years back, are ditching the TR
prefix in order to focus on the lady herself. The game will be titled simply as Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
There are few other details on what the game will be likes, though Crystal's previous games and direction with the series has taken the games down an increasingly story-led action adventure path.
“This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting,
” Crystal Dynamics general manager Darrell Gallagher stated.
“Lara Croft is such an iconic character in videogames, with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light we have created what we believe is a truly original digital experience.
The game will be released via Eidos and is due out in 2010, but beyond that there are new details to speak of. Lara's probably busy driving around her new ring road
