A series of new teaser trailers have just been released on IGN which hint quite blatantly that a new Mechwarrior game could be set for an imminent reveal.

The trio of trailers each show massive robotic bipeds stomping around in cities, which is a pretty sure clue that even if the teased game isn't a Mechwarrior title then it'll still feature massive robotic bipeds that can stomp around in cities.

The current buzz around the still unlabelled game though is that it Piranha Games is signed up to develop the new title, along with Smith and Tinker - the owners of the Mechwarrior franchise after the closure of FASA Studios. Electronic Arts is listed as the publisher for the title.

What ties everything together though is the hyped-up interview which IGN is set to publish soon with Piranha and Smith and Tinker regarding the new game, which Piranha has apparently been working on since 2005.

Admittedly, there's no confirmation yet from anybody notable, but the overall consensus so far is that the game is definitely a new installment in the Mechwarrior series and that it'll be announced for all next-gen platforms in the near future.

The last Mechwarrior game was officially released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS under the title of MechAssault: Phantom War, but there hasn't been a 'proper' game since MechWarrior 4 was released back in 2000.

Would you like to see another MechWarrior game, or are there other franchises you'd like to see get a reboot first? Let us know your thoughts in the forums.
