GamesCom 2010: Activision's next Call of Duty game, Black Ops, is based on a "plausible ficition" according to developer Treyarch.

Talking about the upcoming shooter at the GamesCom show in Cologne, Germany, Treyarch's Josh Olin said that Black Ops draws on actual events for inspiration, weaving them into a realisitic tale.

"We say it's a plausible fiction," said Olin, who said the team drew inspiration for levels from historical volumes and military consultants who had been in similar situations.

"There are sequences in our game which are inspired by – directly inspired by – real stories."

Unfortunately Activision wasn't showing anything of Black Ops itself at the show, so we're still unable to give our impressions on the game.

Black Ops will feature singleplayer, multiplayer and it's own, distinct co-op campaign.
