Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was a great game, even if it wasn't the best in the series, and it's glory was marred only by the disappointing news that the Wii version of the game was only capable of mono sound.

Thankfully, Activision pledged to fix the problem and, this February, the publisher will make good on the promise.

According to ShackNews, Activision is readying to ship the replacement game discs as we speak and Wii gamers will be able to play in glorious stereo sound before February is done. All they have to do is sign up for a replacement disc by registering with the Activision GHIII rebate.

Guitar Hero III has pushed the franchise from strength to strength it seems, with the series just having passed the $1 billion mark recently. Activision will have sucked up a massive amount of that cash too since it bought up developer Red Octane not six months after the release of the first game for a compartively paltry $100 million.

It's also worth noting, says Wii Fanboy that the $1 B figure doesn't account for download sales either. Activision has only said they've sold five million tracks for Guitar Hero 3, which levels out at an extra $10 million in just the last ten weeks.
