Dark Souls 2 is getting a fresh coat of paint and heading to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One next year.

The enhanced edition, titled Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, will consist of the core game along with the three pieces of DLC as well as new enhancements for the game. It is due to be released in April 2015.

The new enhancements include updated graphical features and additional content. Scholar of the First Sin will include an expanded story with extra in-game events, a new NPC and even new enemies too.

As well as being released on the Xbox One and Playstation 4, the Scholar of the First Sin edition will also subsequently be released on the platforms that Dark Souls 2 was originally released on, the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The re-release will take advantage of DirectX 11 on the PC, whereas the current version runs on DirectX 9.

Dark Souls 2, the highly anticipated follow up to From Software’s cult classic Dark Souls was released in March of this year to a positive critical reception. From Software is currently working on Bloodborne, a Playstation 4 exclusive successor to the Dark Souls series that is expected in March 2015.
