Electronic Arts has quietly announced the Command & Conquer 4, the latest game in the core C&C series (i.e. not Red Alert) has entered open beta.

The official site for the game reveals that gamers who pre-order the full game can get access to the beta, as well as some exclusive in-game missions that act as a prequel to the final game. If you're just interested in trying the beta out though then you'll need to head over to GameSpot and register for an account there.

Command & Conquer 4 is to be the last game in the long-running Tiberium Saga which began with the original game, though almost definitely not the final game in the series. It'll wrap up the GDC/Nod conflict and reveal Kane's intentions and origins once and for all.

The game will boast a lot of new gameplay features too - 5v5 online matches, more units, VOIP support and mobile bases, to name a few.

You can check out our Command & Conquer 4 preview for more information on the game if you don't want to check out the beta for yourself.
