Assassin's Creed 2 head Patrice Desilets has confirmed that the content included in the upcoming downloadable content packs for AC2 was originally included in the full game.

Speaking to Kotaku, Desilets said that the amount of content included in the core game made him feel justified in culling features and turning it into DLC.

"I felt that, 'Okay, there were too many things to do and to finish.' So we said, 'Okay, let's take a portion of the game that was planned and we'll give it in DLC.' We'll remove some stress to the team while giving more to fans and people who like Assassin's Creed," he said.

"I think we gave them so much content that they cannot say that we owe them, that we didn't give them a lot for their 60 bucks."

The DLC that's currently planned includes two separate packs priced at around £5 and which are planned for release in January and February. Each one will fill in explicit gaps in the sequence of genetic memories seen in Assassin's Creed 2.

Desilets also hinted that currently unannounced DLC packs may be released that restore more features that were cut from the full game too, such as the ability to replay any mission.
