DICE delays Bad Company 2 PC beta

DICE and EA have delayed the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC beta until next year at the earliest.

Developer DICE has officially delayed the beta of the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 until next year at the earliest, according to a post on the official site.

On the plus side, DICE's Gordon Van Dyke has claimed that the new beta build will have improved quality, stablity and features.

"With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta's capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate," Van Dyke wrote.

"Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations."

DICE has also been spent a lot of time talking about how the PC game will be an improvement over the console versions, with play count boosted from 24 to 32, advanced DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 support and Nvidia 3D Vision support. There'll also be dedicated servers and extra optimisations for squad play, plus "professional grade" servers for clans to hire out.

"Everyone gets non-stop action with no connection penalties based on some other player's internet," wrote Van Dyke.

I thought this was due to be released in March, surely running a beta in early 2010 would be cutting it very fine to make any changes - unless theres also going to be a delay to the release date?

I was really looking forward to playing a demo/beta over Christmas, doh!

Oh well.. at least they're making one. I wasn't even expecting a beta..

This is the game for me - I'm gutted the beta is delayed but I've still got ArmA 2 (new beta patch released today) so I'm all set until then. Really looking forward to this as my community will be getting a dedicated server for this.

ROLL ON 2010!

Music to my ears! C'mon DICE... cannot wait for this, or the BETA next year!

They are timing it for IW to cut half of their "servers" for MW2, leaving MW2 with no multiplayer options. (Yes I know the vast majority of the world has NO multiplay for MW2).
They will greet all the disappointed fans with open arms to a game with dedicated servers.

Excuse me, I have to go beta test the new DLC for Shattered Horizon.

I dont thing Betas are Betas any longer for many companies. I think there now more seen as away to get people to pre ordergames, or gain publicity as a posed to bug hunting and adding extra features.

Well i suppose its good were getting a new BF game, Still wish they would do a BF3 and make it for PC so we can have our large maps again

There's still about 30,000 Xfire users playing BF2 on a regular basis, so they've got time yet...
