Activision may well be looking to add a third developer to the Call of Duty franchise, possibly to work on an MMO.
Activision may be looking to expand the massive
Call of Duty series even further in the future if reports from the
LA Times are to be believed, with Activision said to be keen to add a third developer to the series.
Currently the core titles in the series are alternated between two teams - Infinity Ward and Treyarch, with Infinity Ward responsible for the best games in the series (
Call of Duty 2, and
the Modern Warfare series) while Treyarch has worked on
World at War and
Call of Duty 3.
Other developers have been involved with the series before, namely n-Space and Rebellion who helped with the PlayStation 2 and handheld versions of the game.
Activision may now be looking to involve a third developer in a new
Call of Duty title though, with the speculation being that the new game will be the
Call of Duty MMO that Activision has previously been so keen to explore.
"
You should expect us to test and ultimately launch additional online monetization models of some our biggest franchises like Call of Duty," said Activision CFO Thomas Tippl last week,
sparking more rumours of a COD MMO title.
Treyarch is said to already be at work on the next
Call of Duty game too, with the expectation being that the next entry in the series will explore the Vietnam War according to
ShackNews.

Goddam trolls.
buth then my mind said no its massely multiplayer online
With topping that is working in parallel with EVE Online and their campaings on the SINGLE WORLD!, so both games affect each other in real time!
Dust 514 is not on a single world, it will be on a single server like EvE is, however just like EvE there will be different planets to control is how I understand it
Pretty please with cherry on top. :)
server, lol, cod doesn't believe in servers anymore.
I think I'd rather crap my pants

Consoles only, no PC, this is 100% confirmed.
Three developers independently working on one franchise sounds just like the way Paramount started to squeeze the Star Trek franchise until the pips squeaked, it evenually collapsed on itself and got rebooted by someone else.
