Top 10 UK PC games chart

Top 10 UK PC games chart

The new retail release of EVE Online includes the game client, 60 days of subscription time and all nine expansions.

You won't be surprised to find out that Empire: Total War is still holding the fort at the top of the retail PC games chart, while Football Manager 2009 and Dawn of War II are still guarding their territories at number 2 and 3 respectively.

However, there have been a couple of surprises in the top 10 this week. The first is that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has once again become a chart-busting top 10 game, despite the fact that it wasn't even in the top 20 last week. You may have also spotted EVE Online at number 8, which is because this week saw Atari releasing the first retail edition of the popular sci-fi MMO, even though the game has been available online since 2003. The new retail version includes the game client, as well as all nine online expansions and 60 days of subscription time. You can see the retail top 10 for the week ending 14 March below:

01 Empire: Total War (No change)
02 Football Manager 2009 (No change)
03 Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II (No change)
04 World of Warcraft: Wrath of Lich King (No change)
05 The Sims 2: Double Deluxe (No change)
06 Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 (No change)
07 Grand Theft Auto IV (No change)
08 EVE Online (New entry)[i]
09 F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin [i](Last week: 8)

10 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Re-entry)

This week also saw Ubisoft release the first World in Conflict title after it picked up the franchise from the ashes of Sierra after the Activision takeover. World in Conflict: Complete Edition contains the original game, as well as the new Soviet Assault add-on. You can see the retail top 20 for the week ending 14 March below:

11 The Sims 2: Apartment Life (Last week: 9)
12 Spore (Last week: 10)
13 Call of Duty: World at War (Last week: 12)
14 World in Conflict: Complete Edition (New entry)
15 Fallout 3 (Last week: 11)
16 World of Warcraft: Battle Chest (Last week: 13)
17 CSI: New York (Last week: 15)
18 Left 4 Dead (Last week: 16)
19 Far Cry 2 (No change)
20 Men of War (No change)

Unreal Tournament 3 Black is still ruling the Steam download chart this week, but that's not surprising when you consider that the game still only costs £8.39 and will do until 22 March. As with the retail chart, World in Conflict: Complete Edition has also entered the Steam chart this week, but its position at number 6 shows that the title is much more popular with gamers on Steam than it is in the general retail chart. Meanwhile, Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 has also re-entered the chart at number 9. See the full Steam top 10 below:

01 Unreal Tournament 3 Black (No change)
02 Empire: Total War (No change)
03 Left 4 Dead (No change)
04 Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II (Last week: 5)
05 Counter-Strike: Source (Last week: 7)
06 World in Conflict: Complete Edition (New entry)
07 The Orange Box (Last week: 10)
08 Team Fortress 2 (No change)
09 Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 (Re-entry)
10 Fallout 3 (Re-entry)

Counter-Strike: Source is really still selling that much? A lot of people must get caught hacking regularly.

CCP recently re-released Eve in a box again, that's why it's listed as a new entry.
