Europe to get UT3 Xbox 360 early

Europe will be getting the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 a whole weekend early.

Midway has confirmed that the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will be arriving in Europe on the 4th of July - three days earlier than the game will be debuting in America.

Speaking to Eurogamer this morning, Midway also outlined that the Xbox 360 version will come with all the downloadable content already available on the retail disc, as well as five totally new maps and split-screen support so that human players can play locally.

Though some worries have been voiced about how well the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will perform, those will probably turn out to be unfounded according to Eurogamer, who point to Epic's previous experience of porting the game and the UE3 engine to other consoles.

That said, Epic don't seem to setting their hopes for the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 all that high and the developer doubts it will be able to knock Call of Duty 4 off the XBL activity top-spot.

"I wish we could do that," said Epic's Mark Rein "but realistically, and unfortunately, we don't have the marketing dollars behind our game that those games have."

"But I think the game is great on Xbox 360. It really rocks!"

Are you planning to play the Xbox 360 version of UT3, or are you satisfied by the PC and PS3 versions? Let us know in the forums.

I'm tempted, it'll probably look and play better than the PC version I have installed.

I'll only buy this game if enough of my XBL friends buy it.

Otherwise, I'd just be playing alone.. and that's no fun.

As a major UT fan in the past, I'm genuinely wondering how UT can be consolified. How do you get the sense of speed differentiating it from other shooters when you can't dodge jump or flick shot on a gamepad? Did they slow down the game speed or something? Sounds lame, especially with Rein not being overly confident. A "we'll see" would have been suffice instead of publically enforcing cod4's position.

I remember reading somewhere that they did indeed have to slow the game down.

Yeah, both the ps3 and x360 versions of the game are slower than the pc version. I don't expect to much interest in this though, UT3 turned out to be quite a disappointment in the end.

yeah, and for a game engine to be so fantastically scalable they had very little graphical options, it was far to consolified. they never had a chance against TF2

The PS3 version was slightly slower than the PC version (I own both).. and you know what: the PS3 version is much better for it. The PC version was a twitch fest of a game where you could seriously blink and be killed, never even seeing the person who fragged you! I speaketh the truth on that one.

The PS3 version's graphics were also very good - well up there with the PC version. I run my PC version at full res 1920x1200 with everything maxed out. The PS3 version, whilst not as high res, looks just as good on my 42" screen to be honest.

Im sure the 360 version will look just as good as the PS3 version.

couldn't have said it better myself :D. Plus, stupid f'cking Epic banned my ut2k4 key for some unknown reason. I tried joining a server a few days ago and my key was banned.

Thanks Epic for trying to convince me to play UT3

pc version was best version of it. Blink and you should die, If the person your playing agaist is good enough. ( you never played counter strike i assume. Cause sometimes you can die without even seeing the bullet. As with all online games. Looks are irelivent. FPS rules games Anything below 60 would be considerd bad by most online FPS people. Really you want fps around 100 so that it can drop to 60 in high intensity sections.

Epic blows, as a PC gamer and console gamer I hope if flops. I will never buy another epic game as long as I live after what they have said about PC gaming.
