EA dismisses Jack Thompson's offer of help

EA has fiercely defended itself from any offers of help Thompson has made, insisting that it can take care of itself.

EA, which has lately been making offers to buy out rival publisher Take-Two, has dismissed offers from Jack Thompson to help in any negotiations.

Jack Thompson recently made the offer to work with EA on the deal in an open letter which claimed that:

"I am delighted to work with Electronic Arts to evict the Zelnick Trojan Horse from within Take-Two’s corporate walls. In doing so, I can get the new Take-Two into the clear as to the trouble I and others can send its way."

EA though has strongly and explicitly refused Thompson's help in an email sent out today according to GI.biz (tip submitted by Sebbo).

"In response to your offer to assist in the proposed acquisition of Take-Two, we would strongly prefer that you not get involved in this matter," replied EA's Mariam Sughayer.

"EA is a strong supporter of creative freedom for game developers. We feel that your past statements - including false claims about content in our games - make any collaboration with you impossible."

Ooh, ouch!

Still, just because EA is standing up for themselves doesn't mean their bids will be successful. Take-Two is still resisting any attempts EA has made to buy it out and has said that the offers of $2 billion are both inadequate and opportunistic. Do you agree? Let us know in the forums.
