Starcraft 2. Need we say anything else?
You've been waiting for years, suffered numerous rumours and disappointments, but finally the wait is over - finally
StarCraft 2 has landed.
Or, soon anyway.
In case you missed it, Blizzard announced the game just a few days ago at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational, held in Seoul, Korea, after
rumours reached a boiling point.
It's been almost a decade since the original
StarCraft was unleashed on the market, racking up critical acclaim and cult status immediately, and finally the sequel is here. Fans of the game will be pleased to know that the game will be re-appearing not as an MMO as was rumoured and feared by some. Instead, the game will be true to its roots and be a real-time strategy game with a story-driven campaign mode and multiplayer support.
The official
StarCraft 2 website is hosting a whole load of media, including screenshots and trailers at the moment. Details are slowly leaking out, but what we know for sure at the moment is that the game will incorporate a number of new units and features and will ship with all the map-editing and script making tools required for mod makers.
Blizzard has also promised the game will feature the same fast-paced, hard-hitting gameplay that made the original such a runaway hit in the eyes of gamers worldwide.
So, as the war between the Protoss, Terran and Zerg races continues it only really remains to be seen if the king of real-time strategy can reclaim its crown successfully.
What do you think; will
StarCraft 2 be as good as the original, or will it simply be a pile of
radiation-proof pants? Let us know what you think
