New BattleField 2 patch coming

Will Battlefield 2 finally be bug free?

EA and DICE have announced that there is a new patch coming for Battlefield 2.

Versioned 1.21, it's a follow-up to patch 1.2, released just a couple of weeks ago. That patch fixed a whole number of bugs the community had been complaining about for a long, long time - including prone spamming and sprint exploits, as well as adjusting the balance of various weapons and vehicles in the game.

However, two steps forward and one step back for DICE - 1.2 introduced a few more bugs itself. Not very clever.

Taking the wise decision to fix what they've got rather than introduce more problems, the release of Euro Force - additional paid-for, downloadable content for BF2 - has been postponed. Presumably, DICE has pulled people off that project to work on fixing the problems with 1.2.

EA suggest that the patch will go into beta later this week, meaning we should see a release next week.

In related news, Multiplay has announced that there will be a £5000 prize tournament for BF2 at i27, the latest in the long-running series of LAN events. i27 will be April 14-16.

Are you annoyed at the rather buggy state of BF2 over the last few months? Cheesed off that Euro Force has been delayed? Let us know what you reckon over in the forums.
