Stunning.

Stunning.

Mark this down as one of the slickest game mods that we've seen for quite a while.

Many of you, we are sure, will be familiar with Shadow of the Colossus, the PS2 game that is the follow-up to ICO. It had rave reviews when it was released last year, and is the kind of game that's worth picking up the console just to play.

Well, someone made a Counter-Strike map based on it.

The map, DE_Wanda, looks absolutely stunning. The creator, Soenke c. "Warby" Seidel, has put together a stunning array of super-high-res textures which make the map look incredible. The BSP is 160MB, pretty much guaranteeing that no internet servers are going to run it, but the centrepiece of the map makes it worth downloading. It's a Colossus fighting with a Combine walker, statuesque. The HDR lighting and the scenery is just mind-blowing.

You can see some screenshots of the map, and grab the BSP for yourself, over here. Give it a whirl on your own machine, then let us know your thoughts over in the forums.

BSP = Binary Space Partition right? I take it that's what you use to describe custom maps. Though I haven't played either Shadow of the Colossus or CS:Source I have to agree those screenshots look damn good. ;)

wow! I havent played CS: Source in ages but this makes me want to leave work right now and go play it!

Some of the images in that thread are quite stunning, you can tell the maker has thought about the objects placed in the map and not just splattered them around hoping they make sense.

Wow, certainly one of the most impressive custom maps i've seen so far, the amount of detail is staggering to say the least.... Kudo's to the creator!

I'm not a CS player, but have to agree that those screenies look brilliant. That's some fantastic map design...hats off to Mr. Seidel

Like he said, nobody will ever play that map because of the 160 MB of download required.
It will be probably used in lan partyes or lan events.

It look absolutelly fantastic.

It does look amazing. Now if only all maps were given this level of detail... err... maybe not.

I'd imagine Valve have noticed -- no CV necessary.

Downloading this now, I can't wait to try it out! The screenshots make it look beautiful! If everyone at a LAN has this already, you could have some good looking fun!

Edit: Tried running through the map a bit...this is probably the best looking map I have ever played. With the HDR and AF cranked up, it looks beautiful! I like how the statue breaks when you plant the bomb under it!
