The Samsung 245T sports a 3000:1 contrast ratio. Nice.
At its press conference here in Vegas, Samsung has announced a couple of new LCD monitors that look like they could be perfect for gamers.
The 245T is 24" monitor with the standard 1920x1200 resolution. What makes this panel interesting is the fact that it has a spectacular 3000:1 contrast ratio, which should make it perfect for dark, moody games that often get washed out by lesser monitors. The stand is height and swivel adjustable to ensure that your marathon WoW sessions are as comfortable as possible.
Best of all is the price - a rather nice $799, which should convert nicely into quids.
Alternatively, if you want something a little bigger, you can get a 27" version, the 275T, with the same resolution - for $999.
No word on availability, except that they should be out 'soon' - let's hope they arrive in the UK pronto, with a decent price.
Fancy a 3000:1 gaming monitor to replace that ageing CRT?
Let us know over in the forums.

I'm guessing 6ms which seems to be the current trend, again though a claimed 6ms can sometimes turn out completely different...
Need a trusted review (not from bit-tech :D ) before we know.
That's the general trend for technology, use the latest 'buzzword' when marketing your product.
Digital cameras are the biggest culprit, it was all about the megapixel count, now it's optical zoom and soon it will be the size of the ccd...
I'm currently in the market for a 24" LCD and I have been waiting just to see what kinds of things become available during the first few months of 2007 and I think this monitor just jumped into my top 5 list :D
I could also really go for some Brightside Tech. about now....

Now if only it has a HDMI connector, though a 6-port Component connector is good enough for me.

$999 = £516 + UK tax = £700 = good price for a 27" monitor with these specs!
When i was recently looking at monitors a few of the Samsung monitors had dynamic contrast figures quoted so i would bet 3000:1 is Dynamic and its around 1000:1 real.

And all the info the staff got us on this new monitor line is the contrast of 3000:1 ? What a worthwhile reason for upgrading :P
Google time again then ;)
