It's definitely the Coolermaster contest that's for sure...

Congrats to all the winners! Quite interesting to see so many familiar faces in the runnings.

So when does a case mod cease to be a case mod? Vega is an amazing peice of craftsmanship for sure, but does putting 1/25th of a case on a scratch build really make it a case mod? Where would you draw the line?

I think whichever way it was done he would get comments about the way it was done. It is not a scratch build either as he uses the CM case (which is pretty prominent at the front of the build)

I'm sorry but it's most definitely a scratch build. About 98% of it was built from scratch, not even using materials from the case. That's not a case mod.

TheIf it was in the scratch build section people would be going 'this is not a scratch build, it clearly has parts from the case'

That is my point, either way it doesn't really fit into the categories.

So what?

I remember this argument used to pop up every year in the MotY contest here, and every year it lead to nothing but bitterness.

My point is that it really didn't need that part of the case at all. I'm sure they'd have finished that front bit off just fine without it.

What's the point in having categories if you just ignore them? Would you allow a horse to race in the 400m at the Olympics? No. Why allow a scratch build in the case mod competition then. Part of the challenge in a case mod is creating something from that form. If I glued a front io panel to my ass would that make it a case mod?

This is a "Theseus's Ship" problem, so as such it will go nowhere. "Part of the challenge" :):)

Bit like my teeth, not a lot of original material left there either.
