Cooler Master 2012 Case Mod Competition Update - September
Case, cooling and power supply manufacturer, Cooler Master, opened its doors to its annual modding competition last month with some epic prizes up for grabs as usual. Last year saw some of the best projects of 2011 competing, and if you haven't already done so, you can enter
here. Hurry though as the competition closes to new entrants on 7th September - just a couple of days away!
The competition is split into three categories - case mods, scratchbuilds and Cooler Mods - the latter being modifications of a Cooler Master cooler, a surprisingly popular category. Entrants will have three months from the closing date till December 7th to post their projects in the forum, before they all go head to head in the voting phase.
There are plenty of interesting projects already in the 2012 modding event section in
Cooler Master's forum. Here are just a few of them that we've spotted so far.

Cooler Master's budget mini-ITX cube, the Elite 120 Advanced, is becoming more popular by the second and we've already spotted two Elite 120 Advanced projects in the competition. This example -
Mini Elite by wwwicked - is one, and they're combining a Koolance Rad shroud to form a mini water-cooled PC.

One category is for coolers, and this
Cooler Master V8 mod by Trak is shaping up very nicely. wwwicked's Elite 120 Advanced will also feature this interesting storage box with a stack for SSDs.

The second Elite 120 Advanced project we saw was
MikuITX by PFULMTL. This one will be air-cooled with a funky Hatsune Miku-inspired colour scheme.

This one's sure to draw a crowd, and forum user HULK has been hard at work with copious amounts of luminous green acrylic to make his project
The Incredible Hulk.

Finally, we spotted this superb-looking
Ferrari GTO 599 MOD by Enigma8750. It's one of the best car-themed mods we've seen, with plenty of carbon fibre details, true to its namesake, as well as a fire retardant inner side panel and braided brake hose-like cable braiding.
The competition looks like its set to kick off big time over the next few weeks so make sure you check it out regularly. Don't forget if you'd like to enter, you've only got till 7th September to do so.
