Shame that you've withdraw (or planning to) jrs77, it was definately a nice design.

I vote for Danitgeek, seems to stand out, liking the colours used. ;)

EDIT: ah, you can select multiple. I vote for Razer2007 too then, others don't seem to stand out for me so I'll stick to 2.

Indeed, JRS77 you have a great design and I would like you to reconsider withdrawing.

If I had known you would be choosing by color scheme I would have made mine something more interesting than grey...:D. I dont want people to look at the colors of mine, I want them to focus on the design. I figure I can work out the colors in the second and third stage.

Edit: I gave Razer2007 one of my votes as well!;)

Oh man... That sucks jrs77.... Your design was right at the top of the list of cases I'd love to own, right there with Razer's and Roboduck's... Nothing against the other designs; they are all amazing, but we all have to choose our favorites and jrs77's was one of mine.

Hi all. jrs77 - Very sorry about not using the right photo - sorry I haven't been in touch sooner but I've been stuck on trains and motorways all day today and just had chance to get online! Please check your PMs.
danitgeek 18th December 2010, 00:01 Quote
How many people are the going to stage 2?

And thanks to all the guys who voted for me realy helps
subtec 18th December 2010, 00:22 Quote
Hey guys, I would strongly urge anyone who's casting a vote to check out the last ten or so pages of the case design thread - there's so many details that just don't come across in just three pictures. Here's my entry, in which there are a lot more pictures going into the details of the design.

@Jrs77: I really hope you reconsider, I think your design is quite good from a functionality and ease of manufacture point of view! And remember, this is just to get to stage 2 - which I think is going to be roughly ten entrants? I'm sure you'd make it that far, then you'll have an opportunity to re-present your design for stage 3 and the final.
jrs77 18th December 2010, 00:57 Quote
To all who gave me their vote so far, it's much appreciated and I'd like to thank you for that.

There's nothing to reconsider about my withdrawel however and a discussion about that shouldn't take place here. I've made my decision and can live with it quiet comfortably.

Good luck to all the other participants.

Should have guessed, the prettiest renders gather the 'Oooh shiny' vote...

i'm going to have 2 minor grumbles here (if you don't count that previous statement)

1, there is no small description about what each case could offer, not even a link back to a post in the thread where some of us have actually described thoughts on our designs. it's not made clear that on my design, the motherboard can be positioned in 4 different ways. the pictures, as the only point of reference, to someone just glancing over them, looks like 2 of them are just mirrored.

2, there was 2 sets of design 'guidelines' and some people designed to the smaller midi tower spec, and others to the full tower spec, yet all the entries have been lumped together into 1 contest. back when designing mine, i said that it shouldn't really be much bigger than the Corsair 800D. adding in things like a dual PSU location would have broke that design spec which i didn't want to do.. i shouldn't have bothered and just made it as huge as possible. it seems size isn't much of a deciding factor here, and i don't know about others, but i wouldn't want 1 PC case taking up the same room as 2 PC cases, my desk isn't big enough

They may be some of the best rendered, but they're also some of the best thought out cases. They have good internal design plus good external styling. I voted for xxSebaSxx also because it had great internal structure and framework. Some of the others have different and interesting ideas, but just aren't functionally practical. Even with the cases that I selected I don't think are perfect ( like an abundance of fans that seems to be common between most of the designs ). However, I will admit that I didn't look at the design thread, so maybe by vote was misinformed.
tozsam 18th December 2010, 10:27 Quote
some ppl ARE voting purly by pretty renders and aesthetics. Case in point would be ixmetal (the case that looks like an ornament. There are no shots about structure, internals etc. So those votes are blatelantly based on aesthetics. Sorry to pick you out ixmetal, but your case has the prettiest aesthetics and a pretty render, don't take offense, take it as a complement.

Also as said above, there should be links to the forum page for each design, and what has happened to the two specs? How have the smaller cases got any chance against the cases which can fit 2 quad rads etc. A good example would be jrs77, A beautiful case with sooo many options, but that is because it is fairly big. The smaller cases have no modability, because everything is packed so tight to keep the size down.

Ah, finally we get to vote. :)

Voted for Kryss2k, Subtec, Razer, SnowyOwl and Trance. ;)

Erm... my design was a medium-tower with 500x500x225mm. That's just slightly bigger then an Antec 300. Just to clarify this for you.

Anyways, NO, the represantation of the designs and the form of the vote itself isn't optimal at all.

Voted. I don't know how #17 is was on top. Not a good looking case.

Unfortunately we've been extremely busy with other content in the run up to Christmas and to be honest we did underestimate the number of entries we'd receive. 32 entries each with up to 6 photos via email does take a while to translate into an online article and adding 100 words for each would mean over 3,000 words. Less than a third provided words in addition to the photos so to be fair we would have had to go through the 30+ page article to look for information. In a word, the competition has been a victim of its own success but we'll have to live with the limitations I'm afraid - as I'm sure all the entrants will agree, it needed to go live before Christmas. We'll learn from this and hopefully these issues will be ironed out for stage 2!

a simple link back to a relevant post in the concept thread would have sufficed. for example: Phoyba Defiant by Wing Zero

That would be the fault of the designer. this stage was all for 'proof of concept' and if they didn't really want to explain it, so be it. i know the old saying 'Picture says 1000 words' but words are rather helpful too

unfortunately, for 27 entries, they won't make it to Stage 2 for these issues to be ironed out

Id buy ixmatal in a heartbeat, but I doubt Phobya would be able to manufacture it.

I thought it was going to be around ten entries going to stage 2... only five would be a real shame, particularly for me as it looks like I'm about to lose spot #5 to ixmatal

It's obvious people are voting for pretty renders, but really, did anyone ever expect otherwise? Mine is the only one with more than 20 votes that isn't a render. Ah well. Learn, adapt, do better next time.

Note to self, learn to render, finish case design for concept stage, don't bother writing a few paragraphs of text explaining my ideas and thoughts as it'll just be ignored.

How i understand you

Next time beside do a really rough sketch with text (yes, if a award for more rough sketch exist, i win!:D) i will use the solidworks like i normally do. Damm i burn my brain to fit the more rads and combination i can in less space but have space to assembly everything without get in RAGE MOD.

I've already vote, only 4 votes, not find a 5th place.

Wish luck to all ;)
