Macroman,

Could explain how you did the floppy front in more detail ?
I tried the same but screwed up (two times, so I had to buy other fronts). I was wondering how you pulled that off.

Thanks.

The dials are available from maplins!!!

www.maplin.co.uk

the floppy was drilled and then filed out - not a easy thing to do unless your an expert and I believe macro has been a proffesional in minature technology for a long time so its one of those things that you can look but never re-create to his standards....

Maplin part number...YR66W for the smaller jobbies!

I've worked with other peoples blanking plates and it puts added pressure on you.

One mistake and its all over.

Koolvin will vouch for that for some work I did for him.

These skillz and tips are what I go by:

Professional tools of the highest standard
Stable platform to work on
Dedicated Workshop or space
Good lighting
A steady hand
Patience

I've worked in many trades that have helped me believe in my ability and given me the confidence to tackle just about anything.

So what have I done?

Built Luxury Boats
Worked in the building trade
Renovated a house all trades master of none ;)
Worked in the motor trade
Banger racing
Customised Scooters

The first thing I ever modded was a Vespa 90 back in 1982 when I changed the handle bars so that I could fit a square head lamp in what was a round one.

I get as much fun as being different and eye catching as I was then. Different medium but same concept.

 OMG! dammit! I just ordered those knobs (finally found a place in the US) and I was about to order a pcmods rheobus this week BUT NOW, i guess i'll have to wait (and return/sell those knobs). that would seriously be a kick a$$ fan control unit! OMG, please tell me it's true. As Koolvin would say, neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed! Only two concerns, will it fit behind a b0rg door :D and can i get it shipped to the US?

<<staying tuned>>

What shops sell modellers aluminium plating foil that macroman used on his floppy drive ?
macroman 12th October 2001, 17:16 Quote
I know of no model shops that sell the foil in the UK. I import mine from the USA.

Bare metal foil co

Might try the silver paint they use for war hammer or what ever its called to see what sort of match that makes with the aluminium.

Now that is a cool case. May I ask if anyone knows where I can get similar fibre op cables in the states?

me is becoming a little impatient. :( any updates or news about future availability??? i'm trying to hold myself back from ordering the pcmods rheobus and doing it myself. I know making one myself would be the best way to go but I'm in dire neeeeed of a piece of work by macroman.

OK guys, bad news i'm afraid. :( The company that was going to market the unit has pulled out. So at the moment the electrobus is currently unavailable for purchase.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.:o

You must be frustrated :( Are you gonna try to find another company ? I'm sure the demand is out there ?

It is frustrating after the time and effort spent developing it as a commercial product, but that's life. The demand seems to be high, I get several dozen emails a week asking me to sell or make them.

At the moment, I have moved on to other things so, unless a suitable company comes along, people will have to make their own for the forseeable future. :(

I'd second the demand issue. I don't think sales would be a problem for a device of this quality. The only issue, as far as I can see, would be price.
Macroman, how much would each unit cost, as a rough estimate?

Beter yet, find some alumminum paint (yes, there's actual alum in it.) There's two cans in our basement for some reason. Cheaper than buying an alum case at any rate.
Dragon 11th November 2001, 00:08 Quote
So is anyone gonna make an order of the aluminium, if so, I'd like a sheet.
