Thanks to all of you for your partecipation, encouragement, friendship, help and praise. A special thanks to friend Brett! He and I have worked hard to write this article and the translation of Brett is very, very accurate (Brett speaks a great Italian language).
I have worked for over two years on my Dark Blade project and the partecipations of the forum community was fondamental and very important for me.
Thanks guys! ;)
P.S. See you soon at the next part of aricle and not only...;)
Great work on the Article. Trying to produce something legible from all those logs and a different language must have been a similar task to what Peter Jackson had trying to build a workable script from the Lord of the Rings books.;)
Can only imagine the number of man hours gone into something of this scale. Gob smacking attention to detail.
Would someday love (as probably quite a few would) to attempt a Mod of this calibre, but we are way beyond dremels.:D
Thanks to all and if you permit me, I want also remember all my friends in Italy, particulary all the member of the PCTuner.net forum, my home forum in Italy.
nice work! I too am A CNC machinist, you mentioned you operated 5 lathes. But it seems you used a horizontal or vertical mill to tool any non-cylindrical parts. Amazing indeed, i love CNC machining work, I used to program a Laser and abrassive waterjet cutter and in my project log (in my sig) I use a vertical mill to machine some plastic parts. I just wish I had more money and access to machines
It looks like you're largely using a horizontal mill for all the CNC work. Is that what it is?
Remember, a lathe uses a (largely) stationary tool and spins the workpiece to cut it. A mill uses a (largely) stationary workpiece, and spins the cutting tool.
I remember catching the start of this project when i first started getting into modding a couple of years back and thinking about all the effort that made this case/mod/work of art possible. Even though i must admit that the mod's aesthetics are really not my thing (i like a minimalist approach), having read this article i think i respect Gianluca even more. :)
I hadnnever got round to reading the full log for the reasons already stated (too many comments!) and had mainly just sat at my PC looking at all the 'pretty photos'. This article really highlights the hard work and dedication put into designing and milling the individual pieces.
I have no doubt Dark Blade be regarded as one of the greatest mods ever and i take my hat off to Gianluca, using Google Translator to say: Congratulazioni per la realizzazione stupefacente!
I hope i havent just insulted one of your relatives... :D

In the article there are some inaccuracies (some translation problems).
I have worked all the pieces of the Dark Blade on the CNC milling machine, CNC lathe and tradizional milling and lathe machine. On the first page of the article, there are the images of the CNC Milling Machine and CNC Lathe
Good work to you! ;)

Also, what is the CAM software you're using.
The CNC milling machine uses a rotary tool, the mill, the drill, ecc. and the CNC lathe uses, normaly, a not rotary tool. The milling machine works, normaly, the cubic pieces. The lathe works, normaly, a round pieces.
For the CNC milling I use a dedicated software.
Bellissimo! Non ci sono parole che possono descrivere la bellezza di questo progetto. Keep up the good work G69T, we are watching your every modding move!

That is a translational error on my part - he has five CNC machines, but not all are lathes. I will amend the article. :) My apologies for the confusion!
Also, I wanted to offer a personal note of thanks to Glider, who helped me with the massive amount of image formatting. :)
I work only with Italian tools machines and Mandelli System builds the greats CNC milling machines. I have used a Mandelli 5 for all working phases to the CNC milling. ;)
This is a really nice feature to read. I never came to reading the log because it just takes up to much time filter out the right messages. I am looking forward to the next part! :)
I had the pleasure of start to follow that mod almost on its start, when the great G69T started the tanks of his amazing mod, no words to properly comment this cool work, it's just nice, the best I ever seen til now

Anyway, excellent job man, looking forward to part 2 :)
