Hey everyone, thanks very much for your comments and support. I am glad this case is finally done and I am also glad it turned out so well. I recently just redid all of the acrylic in Sangaku so eventually (not very soon I'm afraid) I will have pictures of that too. It also got upgrades by Intel, BFG Tech, and Corsair once again to bring it up to speed.

I also have some other smaller projects brewing that I can tell you guys about later :D .

Once again, thanks for your support guys.

Truly outstanding. The attention to detail and the theme notwithstanding, the fact that you have a tool-less wooden case over a truly well designed aluminum one just wows the crap out of me. I know your art is based in wood/furniture design, but still - very, very nice.

Fantastic work Nick, and congratulations on the re-appearance on the first page.

I would have wanted to see a bit more pictures of the finished thing, but I'll settle for these :)

Any thoughts on where to go from here, like I foretold at some point, you should do a full aluminum case next, lol.

Well you're going to be updating Sangaku and then those "smaller projects", which I'm really interested in seeing what they are. Hopefully we'll also see a brand new project from you some of these days.

Sincerely

Janne

Thanks a lot guys. After Sangaku, I hated acrylic. Now after Yuugou, I hate aluminum so an all aluminum case = not happening :D

Interestingly enough though, I rebuilt all of Sangaku's acrylic in about 16 hours or so which was blazingly fast compared to the first time.

I'll get a few more interior shots up for you guys. Here is one right now. Enjoy

Beautiful.

To bend them, they key ingredients are moisture and heat. Where is the best place to find those elements? The microwave...

Wouldn't steam be the normal choice?

What happens when you heat up water? ;) The microwave created a mini steamer

Thank you

only worry when using a microwave is denaturing the wood fibers, which could lead to structural flaws and cracking.

Once again this modder makes others look like child's play.

Yah Nick is definately in a league of his own when it comes to wood cases! Top notch man!

Greensabbath how long have you been woodworking??? do you have a nice shop??? I have taken a few woodshop classes and I would say I'm pretty good but not even near your level. you are my wood god.

Ultra sweet case, I love the koa wood. Not to steal your thunder but take a look at my custom clock I made a few months back.

just when i thought it couldn't get any better, some of this stuff is unbelievable
Quote Bluephoenix 24th April 2007, 01:24
One thing I think that makes the case so wonderful is that rather than having a base 'futuristic' theme (about as wide open as they get) it has a unique design aesthetic that is normally associated with fine craftsmanship and quality than mass production and technology.

also yuugou can be seen as meaning a blending of old and new. woodworking is one of man's basic skills, computers are still extremely new.

A gorgeous masterpiece of design, craftsmanship, and implementation. Simple but very bold. Elegant even.

Dude, that case is sex.

I can't believe you put aluminum through a router.

Lovely case. The powder coating seals the deal and frankly, both parts are beautiful in isolation as well as in fusion. Wonderful.
Quote jokkos 24th April 2007, 17:10

I've been following this one since the start and all I can say is: 10/10 for the whole thing. 'Nuff said.
