Getting a spot on CNN money is pretty high-up on non-modder feedback. :) I don't count things like slashdot or the inquirer, because you know who reads those? We do. ;)
Ah, you say "feedback" but you mean news items around the place - I get it now. I submitted it to a bunch of places, and obvious guys like the CNN tech dude hunt around the net for top stories to cover.
Here's a partial list of sites that picked up on it:

On the Inquirer, 'The unnamed man'. that sucks that they didnt have your name.
I hate ipod's but that is awesome, have you ever had a mod turn out bad?
Hey - Ron even went through the process of Registering in order to share that with us... tbh, if you want wood "jokes" the Slashdot comments have dozens and dozens :)

I think they don't get the use of a "online name" like ZapWizard.
And ya, I have quite a few mods that either were never finished or turned out bad.
(They don't end up on the net anymore)
Stuff like my PC AC which used peltiers, heatsinks and a watercooling to air condition the incoming air into a PC case. (This was in the Athlon Slot A days)
It worked, but used tons of power, required constant upkeep, and pumped out twice as much heat as it removed from the air.
I never finished the MediaPC despite tons of work that was done for the project.
There is the Laser PC which I have not shown much of the plans for, but it is so insaine in it's scope of ideas that I won't even attempt to finish it for at least several years.
Also remember nearly everything I end up building takes two attempts.
I built a awsome faceplate for redwood nearly perfect..but I ruined it later and I need to make a whole new one now.
I have also fried more parts then I can count. Some of them were very expensive.

Hehe...I love it when Zap goes all human on us. :) Maybe you should post a "Zap's Outtakes" section on your site? That could be great.

That would be a cool addition to your site. I can see where you might want to maintain the "mystique" of only showing the awesome results of many hours of work. If you put the outtakes on a seperate page though, you'd show that it not only takes hours of work to create what went right but also the hours of work to find out how to make it come out right the second or third time.
I personally am more impressed with the persistence and dedication involved in creating what you do than in the result itself, though those results are spectacular.
In any case, great work. Mod on.
Yeah, you could make pages devoted to like "Take one...", etc. and explain what happened. :) Not only could it be entertaining, but also very informative. I learn a lot from the mistakes of others on the forum!
my only question is that the newer ones have a touch sensitive pad, so how does the menu navigation work? or is this one of the models where the wheel spins?
This is a newer one. As explained in the project Redwood logs, the way it's stuck down means it works perfectly as a scroll wheel, albeit with a small blind spot where it didn't stick perfectly.

and amusingly:

AustinModders.com is slow as can be right now too.
I think it's spread so much due to the popularity of the iPod in soooo many other communities. Music, non-modder geeks, Art, etc...
Thx for the list Pope.
I have a list on Austinmodders.com (can't get it open right now even)
Ron
And now, the wood jokes...

I will be redoing my website after QuakeCon.
I have one outtake already:

Yep the click wheel works fine.
I have fixed the dead spot by removing the wheel and using a larger single piece of tape.
