How heavy is it, what are the external dimentsions, and the power wires to the fan, are theyt at all fragile, and is there any possibilty of them getting knocked off.

all those questions ;)

1. I dont have a scale here but I'm guessing somewhere between 12 and 15 kg. (25 - 30 pounds)
2. the dimensions are in the logs, but I'll give them again ;) : its 274 x 274 mm (10.78 inch x 10.78 inch)
3. because of the sleeving with the washers its almost impossible to knock them off. The wires of the original fans where actually really fragile. But the sleeving made it pretty strong. I think I can hang the case on the 4 tubes, but I'm not gonna try that ;)

hope this is what you wanted

Excellent work. I don't think it could have come out any better. ;)

One question: How much did the case cost in materials? (Excluding the pc hardware.)

Okay, two questions. How many hours are in this build?

1. That is something I will keep for myself. Sorry but that is confidential
2. I guess about 600 - 800 working hours

HI there!
I just registered to say this is one of the most interesting things I've found on internet ever. YOU ROCK!

One remark maybe from the mechanical-engineer part of me:
The stand! Said you made that from aluminium and from the photos one can see from a quit thin aluminium. I would consider somehow heat-treating (sorry, don't know the proper english-word) the bends, especially the bottom one, as this one holds the whole weght. I suppose you know that Al is not so persistant as steel, so some heat-treating would remove the inner tension (and there must be quite a big one there) and the stand as a whole would last longer.

Besides this, I admire your work! Even my g/f says it is awesome :D

Hi !

It is not clear but we can see a little bit trough them with your white leds !
Do you know the real name of it ?
Quote Sheldog23 13th January 2005, 00:03

Congrats on a job well done.

I am sure that your project will now influence quite a few modders.
I already am eyeing my naked LCD, it needs a cool case.
Quote zerocom 13th January 2005, 23:45
Really one of the best mods ever made. The clean lines, white leds - just great. Keep it up. ;)
Quote Technofrikus 14th January 2005, 12:26
yep, it definitley is great.

But what abour the noise, if there is any noise. How fast are the fans and how silent is the whole case? Did you thought about the noise while planing it?

well its not the most silent case I know. But its definately not loud. The fans can turn at half the speed almost all the time, and then its as silent as a normal ATX case.

Very nice project. It's just a shame you named/based it on the TERRIBLE sequel to Cube.... :(

You said thats a 12. some thing touch screen? I would be vary interested in knowing how much it costs and from where you got it. If you know of one like that that is 8-10 inches (with our with out touch screen) that would be super awsom.
Quote rarich 4th February 2005, 00:23
I don't think I would have the patience for anything that comp-licated. I loved the way you did the cables coming of the fans and your solution for power connectors. Your sleeving also was inspiring. You keep on claiming "I am not a good tech" you are a good tech! especially after doing a project like that.
