You do need a c-sync converter with an Nvidia card as they do not support c-sync... Or its not gonna work...
elmodder 14th November 2006, 16:21 Quote
but, it works with powerstrip :p

my ati card totally ignores the edid, but i cant use c-sync with it either, cause it suports it, but it doesnt work or something (it works by doing the same thing as i did with the nvidia).

i thought that, as it worked with powerstrip, with the nvidia cards, it should work with this mod, maybe i was wrong :P

now i have a dual head matrox card to test with.

if it keeps failing, ill build the c-sync coneverter, but i still think it should be unnecesary if powerstrip works without it.

edit: my matrox millenium g200 16 mb with dual monitor suport works with this mod XD

i thought that maybe, my nvidia cards refuced to work cause i selected composite instead of separate in the edid, ill try it just in case.

If you are happy with the performance of the Matrox G200. I d say stick with it.. If not then i d take the building c-sync converter route.. Good luck.. :D

Surprisingly after booting without dummy today my pc recognized my LCD there.. Thought its because of the EDID from the eeprom but i was wrong.. It was the edid from the registry.. On next boot it disappared agin.. :(

i had 3 hours of horrible failures now, my windows is borked and makes powerstrip confuse my psone lcd with my dell lcd, and writes the edid of the wrong monitor and blabla

after 3 hours i have my dell back online, tring to write the correct info for my millenium now :/

sometimes my eeprom gets write protected, i hate him XD

i saw 2 c-sync adaptors/converter, i dont really understand those diagrams, so it might be out of my reach.

Has anyone attempted to do this mod with a Zenith PS2 LCD as of yet? I have one sitting here and figured I might as well make use of it. Just wondering if anyones tried it yet before I jump in and possible mess it all up. :-p
elmodder 15th November 2006, 00:42 Quote
is it like he sony one inside ? pins/cables and all ?

back to my stuff, the data i input into the edid works form powerstrip on my matrox, but on the edid, the image is still a litle down, with a black border on top :/
is there a place to activate c-sync on the edid designer ? or is it automatic ?
Gin0TheCop 15th November 2006, 13:00 Quote
First you need the pinouts badsnax.. I ve seen some people done this mode with different lcds.. Search mp3car.com forums.. You might find something there..

About My mod: Now pwerstrip reads the edid somehow and i do not need any dummy.. i still am not sure edid comes from eeprom.. I think its somehow coming from registry...

elmodder: During my search for an alternative edid writer, i came across with this: http://www.geocities.com/jgeneedid/EDID_Writer.zip this is only for Nvidia cards and it will read, update/write on yout eeprom.. As its a dos utility it should be more effective but must be used with care. First write your edid data to a text file. Then from dos prompt you can read/compare/update your edid.. Wish that worked for ati cards as well.. Hope this helps with your edid problems..
elmodder 15th November 2006, 15:01 Quote
well, with my matrox, using the data that was correct in powerstrip as edid, produced an image that was out of its place (a little to the right, a little down).

i managed to get the right image by configuring theimage more to the upper and left sides thant what was correct, and by using thatdata on the edid, image was perfect XD

i dont know if i should try that edid writer or not now, i have my edid with the right image :p

my nvidia card refuces to write to the edid, but i used another pc and could write perfectly with the old matrox mystique (he millenium reads edid data, but cant find an edid to write to :/)

i have to build the second eeprom, for my other lcd, i might try that new writer for it (still, i have no c-cync converter, but with the millenium/mistique i must conect pins 14 and 13 as explayned on rudyatec guide, or it wont work, cause there is no powersrip forcing c-sync on )

EDIT: holly CRAP, matrox drivers wont accept the info on the edid, lucky me windows xp has defaut drivers for matrox old cards..
unlucky me vista HASNT, so its back to powerstrip while using vista :/

well, I frankly was wondering if this was possible to do by wiring two of the PS2 ports together. The one PS2 plug connected to the mini plug that plugs into the back of the LCD screen, and the other PS2 plug that is attatched to the S-video and the RCA cables should technically be able to be clipped off then wired together.. My question really is just, do you all think that one I clip these two PS2 plugs off, I'm going to be left with a mess of unmarked wires, or should it be relativly strait forward?..

Heres an image of what I have just for an example.

elmodder 15th November 2006, 22:23 Quote
im not sure i understood what you wanted to do (clip = cut ?)

maybe gin0thecop can understand it beter :P
badsnax 15th November 2006, 23:01 Quote
Yup, by "clip" I mean "cut." But what I was trying to say is, "is it possible to cut off the two PS2 plugs and wire them together so the mini plug can be pluged into the PS2 lcd screen, and the s-video into the back of my video card?"

Thank you! :D
elmodder 16th November 2006, 02:35 Quote
i dont know if thats posible, if you want to plug it to the s-video of your video card, dont you have the apropiate conector on the back of the psone lcd already ? (the sony one has an audio and a video conectors on the back :P )

i built my second eeprom today, i didnt break my 2nd lcdeither, but the eeprom refuces to be found by my videocards, ill try the new edid writer, if all fails, i dont know, maybe something is not conected properly, or maybe i burnt it when i was soldering (i noticed i was really unskillfull this time arround, i dont know how much heat it can witstand :P )
badsnax 16th November 2006, 04:17 Quote
haha ouch, I guess Zenith took a few steps back technology wise in that case.. Becase unfortunatly the only plug for video on the back of it is a mini plug.. Primative if you ask me, but there has to be some way around it..
elmodder 16th November 2006, 16:11 Quote
ok, my second eprom definitly has something wrong, either i broke it or soldered something wrong, ill start checking it (powerstrip says there is no eeprom, so it is like its not there :P)

pd: the nvidia only writer needs to be run from a floppy, it wont work in a dospromt, i have to get myself a floppy drive now XD

pd2: what would happen if i wire pins 5, 6 and 7 ofthe working eeprom to the 2 lcds ?
elmodder 16th November 2006, 20:42 Quote
ok, i "won" (more or less)

by wiring pins 5 and 6 of the working edid to the vga cable that conects to the 2nd lcd with the broken edid, both lcd use the date form the working edid and im done XD
(wiring is kind of ugly tho).

a guy offered to build me 2 c-sync adaptars, i may start playing again with this suff in the future, for now, im done XD
Gin0TheCop 16th November 2006, 22:15 Quote
congrats.. elmodder.. I will do the soldering on my eprom again when i have time or just take the lcd to the office and try to write on eeprom on one of the pcs with nvidia cards there..

OH by the way as long as my pc reads the data from registry i have no problems as well.. But i still want to be able to write on that eeprom :D
elmodder 16th November 2006, 22:27 Quote
remember that you need a floppy / cd to boot to dos to use that writer, it wont run on a dosprompt.

also, the edid data on a .txt for that writer seems diferent, there was an example one, examine it and see what i mean :P (its hard to explain).

pd: do you think i could have broken my second eeprom by heating it too much when i was soldering ? ill leave a pic of my mod later XD
Gin0TheCop 17th November 2006, 08:06 Quote
Yeah I know what you mean about the txt data format of the edid writer.

Umm thats a possibility ofcourse as they are designed to work at 70 celcius max. But at my first soldering i was really rough to mine and it kept working.. Second time my soldering skills was a lot better than first time but it refuses to work.. :D

On the official PS1 screen theres a blue and white wire that go to the powere connectors, which is + and which is - because i want to directly wie to the 12V>7.5Vconverter.

i purchased one of these screens and i'm ready to mod it into the case (lian-li) the thing is i ordered it used and it has no power supply besides i don't want unecesary cables in my case, does any one knows how or where can i get a converter to power the screen from a molex connector i think the voltage on the screen is 7.5 or something like that... what if i connect it to the 12v molex and put some resistors? i don't know anything about electronic and i don't want to fry the screen.... thanks for the help

just look on ebay for the ps1 car adapter which will automatically convert it from 12V to 7.5V and all you would need to do is change the connector into a molex..
