Hi all :).. This mod is great, im very much enjoying working with this stuff..
a few issues im running into, and suggestions would be MUCh appreciated..

1. My screen has horizontal lines thru the entire screen. Not horrible, but enough to not like the picture much... I am using the VGA mod part... I have adjusted timings forever and cant remove them... Otherwise the screen looks great.. I have a matrox mystique and im happy with it, just the lines.

2. Soldering - I have soldered all of the appropriate connection (or it wouldnt work im guessing haha) and its a HUGE pain in the butt.. Id like to redo it, and ive heard there is a product that will attach to the wire, then dropped onto the pin where you usually solder, and upon twisting the wire, will grip the pin tightly... Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? and where might i get them? link?

Those are my main 2 question... one sidebar, that is kind of bugging me is this.
Im looking to either mount this in my case, or build a housing for it... I have a nice dremel tool I may use to build a plexi glass housing etc for it.. has anyone else made a housing>? if so, what are you using and how?

Thanks again for this thread, and hope to hear some valuable responses..
take care all

Can everyone post their timings for the heck of it? I still cant get mine to start in the same spot each time I turn it on.

Haven't seen anyone mention it yet or maybe I just missed it, but for those of us who have S-Video to PSone connector cables like the one shown below, is there anyway to connect to our video cards like this instead of getting a S-Video to RCA adapter and then a RCA to 3.5 cable and connecting to the AV In?

desolder the 3.5mm socket and replace it with an rca one.

I honestly hope that wasn't a response to my post as my soldering skills are something to behold. I have burnt my hardwood floor, my hardware and myself all in one go.

:)

I will go the S-Video to RCA to 3.5 before I ever pick up a soldering iron/gun again, I was just wondering if there was any unmodified way (by software I guess since it doesn't come up if I plug it straight from the video card to the LCD) to hook up the above connector and make it work.

I assume you mean that port on the back, I doubt you could use it cos its a passthough from the console not an input.

/bump..
any assistance with my couple of problems?
im desperately trying to find out even a name of the item that would allow me to not solder... no places here in town seem to know what they are called, but several have heard of them.
thanks

That is exactly what I have and exactly my question.

You are right in saying it isn't an input, it should be an MultiAV output, the same one you solder to when doing connecting the LCD to VGA. In the VGA case, instead of soldering to the MultiAV connector, you solder to the board.

It is the also the same port on the back of the PSone and PS2 that sends audio and video, so what it really the difference in hooking it up though the cable via S-Video or soldering on the board via VGA method?

That is my question, is there a simplier way to get this working without going from S-Video to RCA to 3.5?

You could do: S-Video cable to that above linked converter, to RCA & MiniAV cable, which I linked below.

Note: These can be found alot cheaper elsewhere, I was in EBgames today and they had a RCA & MiniAV cable for $4.99.

sorry to sound like an ass, but my original post was saying i DID solder, and it worked fine, a few wired are loosening, and its a REAL tight solder in there..
there are items that you can twist on the end of the cable and then twist them on the leads and they will tighten down.. that is what im looking for, a name of em, or someone who has used them... I am doing everything possible to NOT have to use the RCA, vga is much much clearer...
thanks

No, no, sorry for not scrolling the thread a little more to see you had already soldered.

Sorry, everyone.
I knew very little about the video signal stuffs...
I want to hook a s-video cable to the PSone Lcd (I got an s-video male-femal cable), how should I connect the pins?
Thank you.

Thank you.

Should be from the LCD, 1/8 or 3.5 minplug to RCA/Composite cable (this cable is usually called a camera cable) to RCA/Composite-S-Video Converter to S-Video cable to your video card.

Only thing I am wondering now, is how you get the LCD to show up once you hook it all up?
madpoet 24th January 2005, 22:15 Quote
You just enable it as a monitor in your video drivers.

Sounds easy enough, but I see no option to enable it as a monitor in my video options, only a place to use my monitor as a TV.

More specfic assistance required.

:)

Nvidia 6800 Ultra & Forcewre 70.90 btw.

I've got a 6800Gt with the 71.xx drivers. Assuming you have it hooked up and powered on, go to Nview in the advanced options. You have to choose to use multiple monitors, and then you have to set up whether to clone them or extend the desktop. If you don't have the LCD listed as a monitor choice, something's wrong.

This is what I see and again, no where in any of those tabs is there a option to enable multiple monitors, just multiple desktops.

What tab are you going to on 71.XX?
madpoet 24th January 2005, 22:41 Quote
Not in the desktop manager... go to the Advanced properties of your display and select the 6800 tab. In the box that pops out to the left you should have an NView option at the top.

Like this:

Thanks for your help and patience.

This what I see:

And so there is no confusion, the video card is a eVGA 6800 Ultra LE, flashed to GT Bios for better timings.
madpoet 24th January 2005, 22:49 Quote
You have the display powered on, right? Until I did that it did not show. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

Yes, powered on and connected, but I don't even have any NView options.

I am thinking it might be the BIOS I have as it is a modded one and maybe somehow support for tv out is disabled.
