Just an idea for the tank: You could use a rust painted small tank, kinda like this but have the valve coming out of one side that sticks through the side of the case like in the wallpaper. you could use the same type of fittings and tubes on the ORAC3 but with rust painted fittings. You could also use some aluminum that is not rust covered for contrast. I can't wait to see more!

;)

Great work on the rust! It looks spectacular! How do you think it would work on different surfaces? Would the surface need to be prepared any special way first do you think? I bet it would look really cool on Diamondplate but I wonder how much harder it would be.

You are doing a great job. I especially like the way your logo is raised up. That really stands out! (no pun).

I think it 's better to prepare the surface with primer first, I try it on metal and plastic and it is harder enough, I m sorry but what does mean "diamond plate"?
Quote fillip 26th February 2004, 18:27
Diamond plate is the textured type metal you find on things like fire escape seps (the ones outside) the steps at train platforms. It's basically sheet metal with a diamond like pattern on it that is risen

looks like this...

EDIT: you can also get it in formed plastic/polystyrene, which is much cheaper and lighter

That is the oil tank off of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. I am sure you could find a similar oil tank off of another motorcycle or a similar machine. You could check local scrap-yards and eBay. Another idea would be to find a small old pressurized gas tank like the nitrous oxide tanks they have at dentist offices and cut it down to size or better yet... I am sure you have heard of kids who build NOS setups in their cars to make them go faster. A small one of those would look awesome and I am sure you can find an old one cheap. Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

thank for these precisions :) , about the NOS tank I think it would be very difficult finding one by here , it is very common in the USA but in my poor country that's not legal to put this into cars...I ll check it out

I cut the logo with hacksaw and drill some holes to fit rivet/metal bolt, for the cut out of the "2" I drilled holes all along the 2 and finished it with limes.
Quote Spotpuff 27th February 2004, 07:24
Damn, that is some absolutely badass painting/texturing.

The cutout is also really kickass; that "2" is top notch.

Nice work.

ok thanks a lot ;)

I start the front of case by making a fangrill in the same spirit than the HL² logo

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa31.jpg

the UV react plastic come from cd box

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa32.jpg

here i!s the first paint coat

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa33.jpg

I fix this on the case by this way

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa34.jpg

here are pics to have an idea how it turn out

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa35.jpg

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa36.jpg

but I think the fan grill don't match very nice ... I dont know why but then I try another one with bullets impact

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa38.jpg

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa39.jpg

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa41.jpg

http://users.skynet.be/fa024582/mod4/blackmesa40.jpg

that is much better like that i think :)
Quote Vo0Ds 27th February 2004, 10:32
Kewl, this is getting better :) i like the overkill on the rivets and the bullet holes look groovey! Is that the fan you are going to use? The big silver sticker sorta stands out ;) Once again nice job on the paint, must be even a little difficult to make sure you get the same 'rustyness' all over the case!

Mod on

gun`damn`it - u got one amazing sense of style and of what can come together, that`s one unique grill if i ever saw one!

just 2 things :
1. why not go all the way make it like the hl2 logo totally or radioactive or something along the lines? not that it`s not good looking (`cause it #@%$#@ right is!) just to make it more along the lines of the mod.

2. was the plastic grill painted because it seems different in the first pic as the grill then the rest of them (different coloring i mean - darker orange) or is it just the lighting?

oh man, oh man - this just keeps gettin` better! mod on
