The R3G also returned reasonable, if not spectacular SATA speeds of 221MB/sec via its ICH10R based SATA 3Gbps ports and of 216MB/sec from its Marvel 9128-powered SATA 6Gbps ports.

Wait... the 6Gbps ports were SLOWER?
Its because we tested with a 3Gbps drive, its mainly just a test to check they work and aren't broken. Now we've got a reasonable 6Gbps drive in the form of the Crucial C300 we'll actually be able to test the raw speed of then in the future. We'd have done it before but while motherboards have had 6Gbps sockets, there hasn't been any decent 6Gbps drives to test them with.
With a 3Gbps drive the 6Gbps sockets actually return slower speeds, as they are provided by a third party chip as opposed to integrated into the Southbridge.
This make them easy to use when the motherboard is installed in a case as well as on a test bench (as there's no expansion card to get in the way) which is brilliant should hit stability trouble down the line.
ive been looking to spend about a grand on a pc for the last year and ahalf , and aal this looking and not buying is doing my head-in , as you can clearly see with my spelling and punctuation , i feel like some bloke thats been to amsterdam and spent too much time looking in windows and never getting the gooodies ,frustration isnt an adequate description , but finally starting monday 9-8-10 i order my case , psu , hd , dvd-rw , and posibly OS win 7 64bit , week after that the mbrd gene iii , cpu 920-930 , and ddr3 ? , then the last bits soon after .

It will not look good in your Antec, 'had a chance to test the maximus II gene in an antec 300 and it just didn't look right. :)
