so Asus P6T deluxe still tops, I like the Asus but can't stand paying for its features I'll never use.
fingers crossed ECS Black comes from behind to take the lead with sub 200quid pricing and feature set that is exactly what I'm after

Isn't this the same with the features that are in the box of MSI?

Another thing is that everywhere you look you find the Asus and MSI x58 boards , where is the rest? I wish there is one with a great layout, less ridiculous features and better value.

We've got the Gigabyte GA-EX58-DS4 to come at £185...

How long are we going to have to wait for Core i7 boards for less than £100? I'm glad I'm not looking to upgrade for at least 6 months because every time I read one of these mobo reviews I'm scared off by the price. In terms of bang for buck including both the cpu and mobo I think s775 still wins (this is a guess).

FDD connector is gone, bravo MSI! Let this ancient piece of technology fade into oblivion...

What's wrong with that Creative X-Fi addon card?
"They're all software driven features, but you could say the same about every onboard audio on the market."
Does this mean there's no hardware acceleration like "regular" SB X-Fi card? I'm sure it'd have improved performance. It's pitty you couldn't test audio.

It'll never happen. Core i7 is segmented by Intel to be ultra high end/workstation/server.

Can you find a server board for under £150? Very, very unlikely.

All the extra features are entirely software driven: it's got no "proper" X-Fi CPU onboard as it's essentially a £25 Xtreme Audio PCI-E card.

Hey Bindibadgi, do you have any plans in the near future to look at the Foxxconn Rennaissance? It's a sub $300 X58 board ($277 at the moment). It might be worth taking a look at it as a viable choice in the "low-end" sub £150 X58 spectrum.

If it's $300, there's no way it'll be under £200 in the UK with the current exchange rates.

all I know is that its about time someone dropped floppy lol, I think other companies should make enthusiast boards that are stripped like no on board sound, of course the price better reflect what has been removed or at least distributed to better circuits for OCing purposes.

I agree time for some cheap I7 boards. It's an early adopter/ control thing by intel at the moment. Especially since there is no viable competition from AMD.

just further proof that we the consumers need some competition in the PC market, or else we have price controlling on the i7 boards like we're seeing.

Looks like the Foxcon also dropped the FDD ;)

I wonder what a x58 board will cost with:
1x PCI-E 16x slot
1XPCI-E 1x slot
2x PCI SLot
8x or 10x SATA (all 90degr)
No external SATA
No onboard audio
No FDD
No IDE

that would probably be my dream board..

That's called getting shafted. The board is $277 here.

I can't count the number of times I've seen consumer electronics where the figures of the dollar price and the sterling price are almost the same (sometimes identical). Just the way it is it seems. We don't do much better here in Ireland :(

What GPU did they use to test these games?
